"Scenic Day Mushing Tour" description:
Start your tour by greeting us in our cozy, Alaskan warming tent. Inside you will have plenty of time to get suited up for the cold. Bring the warmest outerwear you have and we'll supply the rest. Next, head outside to meet our friendly Alaskan Huskies. Play with them and take photos while we explain why we use this kind of dog and where they came from. Then we'll move down to the "hook up area" and show you how to harness sled dogs. This is usually harder than it sounds, as these dogs are some of the strongest and most enthusiastic athletes in the world. After harnessing, we'll hit the trail! Our tours utilize a tow-behind dog sled called a "tag sled" so you can try both sitting in and driving the sled! Driving the tag sled allows you to experience the thrill and challenge of mushing, without the added stress of actually controlling the dogs. Just trying to keep your sled under control is its own challenge! Mushing is not always easy; be prepared to dump yourself into the snow bank at least once on this tour. We'll stop multiple times on the trail so you can take pictures and swap positions between sitting and standing on the sled. When we get back, take some more photos and help us put the dogs back at their houses.
